Many here by now have (and if they haven't, they really should have) read the epic fan-manga, Dragon Ball Multiverse. To sum up : Imagine an ultimate tournament between different universes of DB, some with vastly different outcomes to the stories we know. Victorious but oddly gregarious versions of Cell and Super Buu are from two 'verses. One has no aliens as allies, only some very bad-ass versions of the Human fighters we know. Several have Saiyan tribes who were not wiped out by Frieza, one has a Namek who is the fusion of all Namekians into one being, and many have scenarios wherein the vicious movie villains prevailed. One of the most fascinating has Goku and Vegeta remain fused as Vegito, and in this case Bra is his/their daughter, making her insanely powerful, and yes, that is even by DB standards. It is well done on nearly every level you can name. I will say it makes presumptions about powers and characters I don't agree with (SSJ3 as shown in this is worse than useless), but its just plain fun and evokes what made Dragon Ball work. Oh, and it ignores GT and Pan goes SSJ!
So, being the obsessed over-aged fan-boy I am, I naturally got to thinking about what a EL version of this might be. Big problem : The majority of EL's characters are not warriors of any kind, and it doesn't have one-tenth the side-stories DB can tap into. But here's my thoughts :
- Manga-verse : The grown-up Twins are a hard-to-beat tandem in combat. Lucy presses forward and takes every advantage, whereas Kaede knows when to call a halt when they need to, or analyze an opponent who won't hear of leaving them be.
- Anime-verse : A tougher but warmer Lucy has lived with her friends for ten years now, with Kouta knowing what she did to him in childhood, but needing her as a friend, someone he loves, and protecting Maple House from the hell Kakuzawa has made the world.
- Reverse-verse : Simple premise. 'Normal' girl Kaede once met a strange 'Smooth-Head' boy named Kouta, who lacks any extra arms, but whose brain can reason in ways no normal person ever could, enabling him to destroy an opponent, something he seems to relish perhaps a little too much.
- Mayu-verse : Here, she is the leader of a vast nightmare army of abused children, her power being able to tap into their pain and turn it on a world that wouldn't save them.
- Nana-verse : An even cuter more Kawaii Nana whose normally sweet magnetic personality has people following her blindly - as long as she doesn't get annoyed with them. 'Nana Is Getting Annoyed' is a curse word on her world, BTW. A very bad one.
- Yuka-verse : Blind rage personified, first unleashed when she killed her cousins and a horned girl - by glaring at them until they melted. Yuka doesn't get annoyed. She starts out there -- and this is when she's at peace.
- Nozomi-verse : Hers is a voice that entrances you - and can make you do anything - or make you into anything - and she doesn't even realize it. Worse still, when men hear her sing, their daughters all can sing just like her. All they wanted was a song that could kill someone. That was not all they got.
- Devil-Girl-verse : In this world, Kaede was adopted by a good and loving family, and eventually decided to use her powers to become a superhero. She is determined not merely to win, but save the twisted versions of her friends from themselves.
- Kaku-verse : Meet Lucy Kakuzawa, Queen Of Creation, the daughter of Kaede and her half-brother. Hints that she may be indwelt by the DNA Voice itself. So psycho though, that she's easily unnerved and thrown off - if you live that long.
- Wanta-verse : Meet Agent W, dog secret agent who fights the stupidly evil Doctor Kakushmirtz while overseeing the lives of the inventive step-siblings, Kanae & Kaede, and their nerve-ridden sister, Yuka, who always tries to expose their schemes to no avail. Guess what he's going to do today.
