The Battle is the third story arc in the Elfen Lied manga series and encompasses events from Chapters thirteen through sixteen.
Synopsis[]
Nana nervously disobeys the orders given to her from Kurama, and decides to engage Lucy directly, first by contacting her to try and obtain her quick surrender and then by engaging her in battle. A fight breaks out between the two Diclonii in a Kamakura cemetery, and while the young Silpelit gains the advantage from time to time, due to her longer range with vectors, she is overwhelmed by the vicious and ultimately more powerful Lucy. Later distracted by Mayu's arrival, Nana loses not only the fight but all four of her limbs before Kurama arrives with back-up. The only telling blow that Nana lands disable Lucy's vectors, leaving her helpless and forcing her to run off. Kurama sadly collects his surrogate daughter, vowing renewed vengeance on the fleeing Lucy, while the disabled Nana questions her usefulness to her 'papa'. Tired and wounded, Lucy unsuccessfully fights off her reversion to a confused and lonely Nyu. Mayu, lightly injured during the battle, lies unconscious nearby for the present.
