Nana Attacks is the eighth story arc in the Elfen Lied manga series. It encompasses events from Chapters forty-eight through fifty-two.
Synopsis[]
Nana immediately launches an all-out vector assault on Nyu, who she sees as Lucy. She is shocked and hurt when all the residents of the Maple House defend Nyu and Kouta tells her to leave. Even Mayu, who has befriended the tearful, fleeing Nana, refuses to believe her story that the gentle Nyu is the monster she calls Lucy. Nana takes note of the lack of Lucy's presence and the fact that she did not fight back, but then senses her presence anew. Kouta refuses medical care for Nyu, fearing her once again being taken away if they went to the hospital. While Nyu recovers, she again becomes Lucy, but is too weak to move, again remembering the emotional trauma of her childhood, choosing to allow her to go out again to prevent Kouta from also remembering. Her embrace of Kouta as Nyu once more pushes Yuka to despair over his feelings for them both, but a forceful declaration from Kouta ends that after she briefly runs off. Nyu tries her best to cheer the depressed Kouta, even going so far as to cut her hair to look like the late Kanae, offering Kouta the forgiveness his sister is now unable to do. When Nana returns with Mayu, she makes enough of an effort towards an apology that Kouta and the others accept and offer Nana a place to stay. Some applied psychology and also her desire to keep an eye on Lucy/Nyu overcome her objections, and she comes to live at the Maple House with the others.
