  • Hey, just dropping in and seeing how the wikia has come along! I really love the work on the character journey essays! This has become one of the best fan wikias I've ever seen!

Of course these guys are larger in sheer number of articles.

    https://gineipaedia.fandom.com/wiki/Legend_of_the_Galactic_Heroes

However, their anime is over 10 times longer than Elfen Lied and contains over ten times as many characters!

    • Good to hear from you! Well, we have pretty much expanded almost as far as we can. If the manga transcripts can ever get done (they are each one a bear), we'll have over 500 articles, but that would be about it, barring actual new material from LO. We've done all the characters possible (I refuse to do a whole article about the non-descript hench-bullies) and told the episodes and chapters in full and digest form. The Character Journeys and other essays help newer readers answer some WTF?'s about the whys and wherefores of the series.

Thanks for the kind words. As to too many characters, it could be worse: Imagine a comprehensive Voltron wiki, and I mean really comprehensive. You would need to do:

1 - Synopses of the original 126 English dub episodes

2- Synopses of the 104 Japanese episodes; 52 of Go Lion; 52 of Dairugger

3 - Bios of every character, including their versions from the Japan originals, the English dub, three different animated reboots, comics, and whatever else is out there.

4 - A Differences article that would have to be broken up into like five pages.

I love the mighty robot, but phew!

  • Just checking you're aware - there's a new tool called "Analytics" out there for admins. It shows you, among other things, the ten most used search terms on the site, so you know what might need redirect pages and such.

      Loading editor
    • Thanks!

        Loading editor
    • This has become a bad joke. I try to add redirect pages under some of the search items I saw; they just keep coming up as regular pages. I even cut and pasted from existing redirects off their edit page - still no good. I know I've done this in the past.

        Loading editor
    • Not everyone has it set into their Preferences to take their article searches straight to an existing page. If I type in "Kouta" and press enter (rather than click on the "Kouta" link when it appears in the drop-down box), I will be sent to the search page and it will be counted as such. However, for people who know to wait for the box, they'll just click on that link and it probably not count as a search since they were taken straight there.

There is a page that has no article redirect, though - "Characters". Perhaps a redirect to the "Characters" category, or otherwise a redirect to "list of major characters in Elfen Lied" would help people there.

  • What exactly is the policy on character names? Do we go by the anime dub's spelling in the credits, the manga's spelling (when it's out) or some popular romanisation system (Modified Hepburn; Monbushō)?

      Loading editor
    • No Monbusho system, please. A minor one in the world (but prevailing only in Japan) and confusing for many non-Japanese. Some examples. ti = chi, si = shi, tu = tsu ...  Surely results in a non-proper pronounciation of a name like Shirakawa.

        Loading editor
    • At this point, many if not most non-Japanese or non-Asian fans have 'grown up' with Kouta, as opposed to Kota, for example. Over time, this may well change. If not for Yoshik, I would never have known how the cousins are related (K-Dad and Y-Mom = sibs), so you live and you learn.

  • I'm gonna test out that character tab template now. I've picked Aiko Takada, since she's one of the characters with a differing manga and OVA portrayal. I've made the Manga the "main" page, since if it's true there's an official English version coming out, we'll get an influx of new manga reading fans this year.

    • I have vacation time coming up. I may just attempt this with the big one: Lucy herself. Her article could really benefit from this format.

    • Wow. Throwing the big guns at me. Obviously the number of Vectors have to be addressed... I'll have to re-watch the whole anime to make certain of differences with that.

  • Hi Gojirob; I'm Amanda with FANDOM's community development team! I'm contacting you to see if you are interested in turning on Discussions.

In case you are unaware of the feature, Discussions was introduced last year to help communities engage with users and fans. It lives in its own space on the wiki and allows users to interact with other members of the community. It is also mobile friendly, and gives mobile users a chance to contribute and engage with the community, and possibly turn them into wiki editors as well. You can read more about Discussions here.

For more information on migrating forums to Discussions, you can check out this blog over on Community Central that explains everything in detail.

If you have some concerns, Discussions and Forums can exist side-by-side in case you do not want to migrate just yet. However, eventually all Forums will be migrated over to Discussions, so getting ahead of the curve is never a bad idea.

Let me know what you think, and if you want to proceed I can get the ball rolling.

  • So did you read my Season 2 draft yet? If so, what did you think?

    • He said, after it was apparent she was no longer under control and was bent on facing Lucy:

Isobe: Shirakawa has been killed. It was Lucy. Yes. I don't know why Lucy turned up, and I'm even less sure about why Number 35 has been disabled. For some reason she's completely incapable of using her vectors, which means the plan is a complete failure. There must be other ways to--

Chief Kakuzawa: Even if her vectors don't emerge, we still have ways in which we can make use of Number 35.

While oblique and very indirect, it seems to indicate the cloning.

    • Or it could be referencing the bomb inside of her. Large enough to kill or injure Lucy. Given, Kakuzawa wouldn't want to fry Lucy and ruin his chance at completing the vector virus. He stated he at least needed her head.

    • I'm not really sure, anymore. It's been a while since I worked on any of them, although since I wrote nearly all of them, it must have been me. If somehow this is improper or distracting, feel free to change them at your leisure. Since I'm studying for CPB right now, my time to do much more than fight the occassional spam is nil.

    • Typically, just the titles of full works get italicized. Like books, albums, Tv/radio programs, magazines etc. Individual pieces within these larger works usually get placed within quotation marks. Italicization can also be used for emphasis as well so I'll leave it as is.

Though I don't edit here very often, I check in every day or so to make sure nothings gone wrong. I wish you luck on your studies!

I see. Sorry to hear that, dude. Best of luck.

In Elfen Lied, however, Kurama is merely a man, yet he is a man who has both suffered and inflicted suffering upon others.

    • Thanks, except the bulk of that so far was Senseless-Pi's work. I'm merely continuing what she started now that she has to walk away.

BTW, I've ordered both editions of Flip-Flap. That's one step.
